Brass & Willow

A dark Australian dining room where every dinner leads to the poker table.

Brass & Willow is a restaurant built for slow evenings. You arrive for dinner, stay for the cards, and leave with the feeling of having been somewhere that doesn't exist anywhere else.

The Room

A room designed for low light and high stakes.

The dining room at Brass & Willow is built around the poker table. Low ceilings, dark timber, and leather booths keep the focus on the table in front of you. The lighting is engineered so that your plate, your cards, and your company are the only things fully illuminated.

Every table is set for dinner first. The poker chips are already there, stacked as table props, but the meal comes first. That order matters: you eat, you talk, and then the cards come out.

Dinner First

Dinner is the opening hand.

The kitchen at Brass & Willow works in the same register as the room: dark, rich, and precise. The menu changes with the seasons, but it always includes dishes that can hold their own next to a deck of cards.

  • Charred meats

Slow-cooked cuts finished over open flame, served with smoked salt and dark jus.

  • Smoked vegetables

Seasonal produce roasted until the edges catch, dressed with herb oil and black pepper.

  • Dark chocolate desserts

Bitter cocoa, espresso, and burnt sugar, made to close the evening slowly.

The Poker Table

The poker table is the centre of the room.

At Brass & Willow, poker is not an afterthought. The tables are built into the room, and the evening is structured so that after dinner, the cards come out naturally. It is social, in-person, and completely offline.

The Evening Flow

A night at Brass & Willow, step by step.

  1. Arrival and first drink

You are shown to your table or a seat at the bar. The room is already low-lit, and the first pour gives you a moment to settle in.

  2. Dinner service

Shared plates arrive in a steady rhythm. Nothing is rushed, and the conversation builds while the table fills with food.

  3. Transition to poker

The plates are cleared, the chips are already in place, and the cards come out. Dinner turns into play without a break in the evening.

  4. The last hand

The final cards are dealt, the table winds down, and you leave with the sense that the night belonged to the room as much as to you.

Poker Nights

Poker nights are the house ritual.

On poker nights, the room shifts slightly. The lights go a little lower, the music a little quieter, and the tables are set with chips and cards from the start. It is the same restaurant, but the focus is on the game.

  • Typical night

Thursday evenings, when the room is given over to the tables and the game runs late.

  • Format

Texas Hold'em-style social play, with a dealer and a relaxed table culture.

  • Duration

From 8pm until the last hand, usually around midnight.

  • How to join

No experience required. Book a seat with your dinner reservation or ask at the bar.

The Card Lounge

The card lounge is where the game lives.

Beyond the main dining room, the card lounge offers a quieter, more focused setting for poker. It has its own tables, its own lighting, and its own rhythm. It is still part of Brass & Willow, but it feels like a step deeper into the night.
